2021rif. 10644Hardcover xii 196 pages NOT ex-library. Book is clean and bright with unmarked text free of inscriptions and stamps firmly bound. Minor handling wear. Issued without a dust jacket. -- The book provides a comprehensive analysis of how media representations and communication strategies shaped the United States' domestic and international order following the attacks of September 11 2001. It delves into the ways in which threat communication - ranging from political speeches to film and television - has influenced public perception policy formation and security measures in the post-9/11 world. The book examines the intersection of media and politics exploring how specific narratives of fear security and terrorism have been constructed disseminated and internalised by the American public and political leaders. It also discusses how these representations have impacted civil liberties government surveillance and foreign policy. By providing case studies across multiple media platforms the editors showcase the profound effect media has had on shaping national identity fostering a culture of fear and legitimising military interventions. This volume is essential reading for scholars in media studies political communication and those interested in understanding the complex dynamics of threat perception and national security in a post-9/11 context.
