This work is a poem on the legend with the prologue and epilogue by Pierre Dupont. With the Compliant and Beranger's Ballad set to music with the pianoforte accompaniment written by Ernest Dore present at the start of this work. Translated into English with critical remarks by George W Thornbury with a bibliographical notice to this work by Paul Lacroix.Gustave Dore was a prolific printmaker artist and illustrator known primarily for his wood engravings. He had a very successful illustrated Bible which earned him a major exhibition in London which later lead to the foundation of the Dore Gallery in Bond Street.
