In 8° (cm 11,5 x 19,8), graziosa legatura mezza pelle antica, rimontata, pp xvi, 145, esemplare in buone condizioni. Attribuito al Comparet, con luogo di stampa falso: probabilmente il libello fu stampato in Svizzera; la rara opera riguarda 'La guerre civile de Genève', satira di Voltaire contro Rousseau; L'"Ode" occupa le prime 16 pp, mentre da p 17 a 145 abbiamo la "Dissertation historique et critique sur le gouvernement de Geneve et ses revolutions". Nella "Correspondance littéraire, philosophique et critique par Grimm, Diderot, Raynal, Meister" del 1° gennaio 1766, troviamo questo passo a proposito della presente opera: "On a distribué avec plus de publicité une brochure de cent quarante-cinq pages grand in-8° intitulée la Vérité dite à M. de Voltaire, suivie dune dissertation historique et critique sur le gouvernement de Genève et ses révolutions. Cest cet ouvrage, fait pour appuyer les prétentions de la bourgeoisie, qui a donné lieu à la lettre de M. de Voltaire à M. Tronchin, conseiller dÉtat... Si le but de lauteur des Lettres de la montagne a été de mettre le trouble dans sa patrie, il peut se glorifier dun succès complet... O prévoyants habitants de cette petite ruche appelée Genève, que vous mériteriez bien quil se levât à lOrient ou à lOccident une grosse baleine pour vous engloutir, et que vous êtes bien plus heureux que vous nêtes sages, puisque votre situation entre trois grandes baleines vous permet de vous ennuyer de votre liberté et de nêtre point dévorés!". In 24° (cm 8,3 x 12,7), cartonatura muta coeva, pp 232. In antiporta, vignetta in rame raffigurante Henri e Gabrielle d'Estrées. Carta turchina, a certe pagine un po' sbiadita. Esemplare in buone condizioni, ex libris ms alla sguardia. Graziosa, minuscola edizione fine secolo dei Lumi di Lille, dell'Henriade di Voltaire, opera che il re di Francia rifiutò gli venisse dedicata; che restò manoscritta così a lungo che l'A., esasperato, ne gettò il manoscritto nel fuoco: esso venne tempestivamente recuperato dal Président Hénault, che sacrificò nel salvataggio, "une paire de manchettes de dentelle". L'opera, impressa infine "par les soins de l'auteur", conobbe grandiosa gloria postuma: "Près de cent ans après avoir été refusée par Louis XV, ou du moins en son nom, la Henriade eut une destinée bien différente. Lorsqu'en 1818 on rétablit sur le terre-plein du Pont-Neuf une statue de Henri IV, on ne trouva rien de mieux à mettre dans le ventre du cheval qu'un exemplaire de cette même Henriade" (Beuchot).
