Fine UNIQUE ONE-OFF PRESENTATION COPY (large format, quarto, no faults, bound in maroon buckram withn titles blocked in gilt on the front board, plain spine) Includes letter from Ritson to 'Shelagh' (?) written in expectation of Ritson's death when facing his third brain operation. He had intended for more than thirty years to make and dedicate a special copy to her - this is it. The book had special meaning for them. The book includes a preface by Ritson, a colour photocopy of the dustjacket of the original, a pastedown 'self and niece' and another of a German Officer 'Werner von E'. There are 47pp of text so presumably the translation is abridged.Vercors was the first man to be received by General de Gaulle at the Lycee
