Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller 1759 - 1805 war ein deutscher Dichter Philosoph Historiker und Dramatiker. Während der letzten 17 Jahre seines Lebens schlug Schiller eine produktive und ziemlich kompliziert Freundschaft mit Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Sie diskutierten häufig Fragen der Ästhetik und Schiller Goethe angeregt um Werke die er als Skizzen links beenden. Die Freundschaft führte zu dem was heute als Weimarer Klassik bezeichnet. Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller 1759 1805 was a German poet philosopher historian and playwright. During the last seventeen years of his life Schiller struck up a productive and quite complicated friendship with Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. They frequently discussed issues concerning aesthetics and Schiller encouraged Goethe to finish works he left as sketches. This friendship led to what is now referred to as Weimar Classicism. The two also worked together on Xenien a collection of short satirical poems in which both Schiller and Goethe challenge opponents to their philosophical vision. He is perhaps best known to Canadians and Yanks as the creator of the 1804 play William Tell which inspired Gioachino Rossinis 1829 overture to an opera of the same name and which became the theme song of the Lone Ranger television series in the 1950s. In 1839 five years prior to the publication of these volumes in Stuttgart The city of Stuttgart erected a statute in Schillers memory on a square renamed Schillerplatz.
