Unmarked and still stiff to open in card covers with just a hint of shelflife.; 6.77 X 1 X 9.48 inches; 436 pages; Clifton Royal is a documentary history of a small farming community on the Kennebecasis River in Kings County New Brunswick. It is built from the Wetmore family’s own records rather than a narrative history. The core is diaries from 1870 to 1891: David Pickett Wetmore’s diary for 1870–1880 short diaries by Rebecca Araminta Wetmore May 1873 and May 1874 Howard Douglas Wetmore’s farm journal for 1884–1891 and Genevieve Wetmore’s diary for 1889. With those are the Wetmore & Puddington day book shop records from 1864 with client lists and the Union Agricultural Society minute and account book for 1882–1907. The entries cover fruit-farm work and plantings the general store community and church meetings militia and volunteer service and ordinary household life. Baxter’s introduction and a closing section on Clifton church and community frame the documents. Period photographs illustrate the volume. The result is a close picture of one family’s farms and store and of village institutions in Victorian New Brunswick in the early decades after Confederation. . 2005. 0660193426 . The tipping point came when Steiner intensely interested in Goethe and Nietzsche was invited to speak to the Theosophical Society. Already interested in esoteric slants on philosophy Steiner eventually led their German section before he and his followers split to form the Anthroposophy Society. Steiner introduced a distinctly Western approach to spirituality complete with Christianity and natural science where it was possible to engage in spiritual discovery by penetrating behind sense-perception. Scientific in form Anthroposophy exploded in the esoteric world with Steiner's 1904 publication of The Way of Initiation serving as a foundational text for followers' transition from mere mystic or occultist to higher Initiate. First published in English in 1908 and 1909 The Way of Initiation and its sequel Initiation and Its Results made their way to the United States through Theosophical Society's strong tans-Atlantic ties presented here in third and second American editions. A cornerstone of twentieth-century esoterica step into this New Age guru's "scientific exploration of the spiritual world. Macoy Publishing and Masonic Supply unknown
