Friedrich Hoffmann 1660-1742 was one of the most distinguished physicians and chemists of his time court physician to the King of Prussia and primatus professor of medicine at the University of Halle. Der Titel wurde öfter mehrfach nachgedruckt wie viele Werke des äusserst produktiven Autors. - Friedrich Hoffmann 1660-1742 war zusammen mit Georg Ernst Stahl die Referenzgrösse der medizinischen Forschung in Deutschland. Hoffmann wurde nach Studien in Holland und England wo er mit Robert Boyle zusammenarbeitete Professor an der Universität in Halle. Dem Ruf als Leibarzt Friedrichs I. nach Berlin folgte er nur widerwillig. Er war Hauptvertreter der mechanistischen Auffassung in der Medizin und einer der besten Beobachter seiner Zeit. - Einband leicht berieben. Oberes Kapital am Rücken angerissen.
