These are in the design of the first to the ninth English editions Peter's hair hangs down over his face picture 5 on The Story of Augustus shows only a tiny cross. LACKING PAGE 16 Conrad being snipped replaced by a hand coloured page 16 from a slightly later edition with arches and columns behind Conrad image 3. Spine faded and slightly worn corners slightly bumped inner hinges cracked pastedowns slightly damaged front endpaper slightly torn and neatly repaired tiny brown mark on title page lower outer corners well thumbed especially on first 2 pages Harriet's dress and Johnny's tunic slightly smudged some scratches on Agrippa's gown on page 10 small closed tear to 1 lower and 1 inner margin light soiling to some blanks. A good copy 1 page replaced as noted. Page 16 is sometimes defaced or damaged or as here completely removed by the caring parent who does not want a child to see the thumb snipping.
