1973Best.-Nr. CGP58º. 186p Book order. Original editor's rustic binding. These poems found on his desk at the time of his death include the moving "Final" a love song to his wife Matilde which he concluded shortly before dying. Faced with imminent death he comments: "It was so beautiful to live / when you lived!" On November 28 1973 the first of his posthumous books is published: "El mar y las campanas" The Sea and the Bells by Editorial Losada in Buenos Aires. Professor Hernán Loyola notes that this seems to be the most fitting book not only to close the series of posthumous books "but also – due to its extraordinary quality as a whole – to dignify the entire canonical work of Neruda." Loyola adds that this book "included touching texts dedicated to a rising river and a small dying animal to the Utopia that did not come to the appointment in the image of a ship that everyone expects and that never passes through the horizon to a writer of 'mean condition' . to the port of Valparaíso. and to himself in a struggle with death." Plates browned but clean and without markings. Translaton from Neruda's introduction: "The poems collected in this book were part of a cycle of my production developed nearly ten years ago. The influence they show of the great Uruguayan poet Carlos Sabat Ercasty and his general accent of eloquence and verbal arrogance made me remove the vast majority of them from publicity. Now after the period in which the publication of "El Hondero Entusiasta" would have hurt me intimately I have delivered them to this publisher as a document valid for those who are interested in my poetry." Neruda. January 1933. Pablo Neruda Ricardo Eliecer Neftalí Reyes Basoalto. "El hondero entusiasta" Neruda's first cyclical poem was initially published in No. 4 of the magazine "Atenea" of the University of Concepción in 1924. Cyclic in the understanding that addressed the human nature and the cosmos seen through the eyes of the 19-year-old poet. in 1933 Neruda published the book of the same name "El hondero entusiasta" with this poem as a portal to 11 others with erotic content.
