2000Best.-Nr. 63649Los Angeles: Metro Goldwyn Mayer / Trilogy/ Showtime / Alliance Atlantis 2000. No Binding. Fine. Fine; quite literally As New even though received here new in October of 2000. 'The Outer Limits' Television Series 1990s collector's embroidered patch. Large at 6 13/16" x 5 1/4". Obverse in gilt and white thread embroidery on deep forest green fine-ribbed cloth. Embroidery executed through stabilizing cloth on reverse. See images of both sides. 'The Outer Limits' series of the nineties was an updated version of the 60s' series of the same name with newer and better special effects and other production values. Both incarnations were inspired by Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone" series a now-timeless sequence of Science Fiction / Horror tales with a solemn narrated message at the beginning and end of each installment usually a lesson about regarding the nature of the spirit of the human species sometimes with a cosmological twist as well delivered by Serling. Both incarnations of The Outer Limits followed his lead in that and in other major creative elements. While the 90s Outer Limits had of course better production values in general being newer neither acolyte ever quite matched Serling's pre- and post-episode message delivery or writing. All three are now of course a part what makes the genre so collectible in all forms. An extraordinarily scarce patch having apparently never been produced in large number nor widely distributed. Ships in stout protection of course. S-mph5 Metro Goldwyn Mayer / Trilogy/ Showtime / Alliance Atlantis unknown
19453 vols., 8vo., First Edition, second volume with frontispiece by Clifford and Rosemary Ellis, neat contemporary signature on front free endpaper of first and third volumes; cloth (brown/brown/terracotta respectively), gilt backs, a very good, bright, clean set in unclipped dustwrapper, the wrappers chafed (just affecting lettering) at head and tails of backstrips The set comprises 'Portrait of Elmbury' (1945), 'Brensham Village' (1946) and 'The Blue Field' (1948). First volume in First State dustwrapper. Bright set of one of the most elegaic and best-loved accounts of the English countryside of the twentieth century. Based loosely on Tewkesbury and Bredon (Gloucestershire and Wiltshire respectively), the three novels together paint an unforgettable image of a rural England long passed away. Writing only twenty years or so after Hardy's death, Moore rekindles the spirit: 'the finest countryside writer of his generation' (Compton Mackenzie). COMPLETE SETS OF THE ORIGINAL EDITIONS ARE SCARCE.
