2018brossura Scritto nel 1816 e pubblicato nel 1818, "Frankenstein ossia il moderno Prometeo", di Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin Shelley, può essere considerato un'opera pionieristica della letteratura fantastica e contemporaneamente di quella di fantascienza. Nell'insieme costituisce un'officina antropologica di straordinario interesse, poiché offre al lettore molteplici spunti per incursioni in vari ambiti della cultura, dimostrando così quanto siano attuali alcuni temi proposti nella tessitura narrativa del libro. In questo saggio il lettore avrà l'occasione per ripercorrere la genesi del romanzo, strettamente legata alla biografia dell'autrice, alle sue vicende umane, al contesto culturale e scientifico dell'epoca. Si prendono inoltre in considerazione molti aspetti legati al ruolo simbolico di fatti e personaggi: aspetti che sono stati in grado di donare alle pagine della Shelley un valore immortale, transitato dalla letteratura al cinema per conquistare il pubblico di ieri e di oggi.
