1945réf. redponyNew York: Viking Press 1945. Stated "Illustrated Edition First Published 1945" on the copyright verso. Classic mid-century illustrated edition of Steinbeck's beloved cycle of stories about young Jody Tiflin his family and life on a California ranch here presented with full-page illustrations and issued in a publisher's slipcase. The book itself is in Good condition: cloth shows moderate rubbing and handling but the binding remains sound and the pages are clean and legible with no major markings or defects noted. The original slipcase is present and structurally intact but only Fair: staining rubbing and general wear to panels and edges typical of a slipcase that has done its job over many decades. Still protects the book and displays reasonably on the shelf. A solid presentable copy of the Viking illustrated edition of The Red Pony increasingly scarce with the original slipcase still present.
