1950rif. C1029771950. Good. The top copy of a typewritten 'Soho Script' from the 1950s charting the sexual education of a sixteen year girl from adolescence to womanhood in late nineteenth century France. It is known that these samizdat style typescripts were sold under the counter in adult bookshops mostly Soho in the late 1940s early 50s. Foolscap single-leaf top copy typescript paginated to page 53. The leaves are bound into a Manilla folder from John Dickinson using two curious metal devices of button form that screw together. On the title page is typed MEMOIRS OF A FRENCH LADY OF FASHION. Above this is inscribed in pencil ROMANCE OF MY ALCOVE. 1st ENG.TRANSLATION IN 1883. The leaves are in fairly good condition though the folder is torn at the spine and at the edges. No information has been gleaned regarding the French original or the supposed English translation. The story is told by the unnamed girl whose narrative begins in the setting of her grandmother's chateau. She is staying there with her beautiful twenty four year old aunt Bertha who has improbably been widowed at twenty-two. Her fianc the handsome and dashing Alfred pays her several visits and it is the sexual encounters here that form the first part of the narrative. At first the couple meet in a shed that serves as a WC in the grounds of the chateau. Here the curious girl uses a peep hole to spy on the lovers as they mutually masturbate. The girl is aroused by what she sees and retires to her room to experiment on herself. On the second occasion the girl borrows a ladder and from an outside window views the couple copulating. In a final episode of voyeurism the girl spies on Bertha masturbating Alfred resulting in her mimicking the event in the shed. Alfred and Bertha marry soon afterwards and the girl who is present at the wedding vows to get married herself. The second part of the story sees our heroine married to Charles. On their wedding night the girl loses her virginity but is disappointed by the experience as she is by every other attempt by her 'cold' husband to make love. She dreams of having a lascivious lover and finds one in Jules a distinguished young Colonel who she meets at a dance. They arrange a liaison while her husband is absent and make passionate love. Their affair continues over the following months with each partner adopting various sexual positions and methods of love-making all of which are graphically described. On one occasion they are nearly discovered in flagrante. In the third and final part of the narrative Jules implores his lover to let him bugger her. At first she is very wary but after a few attempts she is thoroughly thrilled by the new sensations she feels and the narrative closes with her actually asking him to penetrate her ' secret spot'. This is a very explicit narrative containing many graphic descriptions of sexual technique and the pleasures that result. The usual slang terms for the sexual parts of the human body are used and on some occasions their use can be unintentionally funnyÑfor instance the narrator names her lover's erect penis 'Mimi'. However the eroticism of the narrative is powerful and comes from the loving descriptions of the female body and the genuine tenderness shown by the all the lovers towards one another. 1950rif. C1029761950. Very Good. Anon entitled Taking care of the Children n.d. A 9 page carbon copy of a ' Soho Script' of the early 1950s. It is known that these samizdat style typescripts were sold under the counter in adult bookshops mostly Soho in the late 1940s early 50s. A 9 page carbon copy of a ' Soho Script' of the early 1950s recounting the highly sexual adventures of the 26 year-old Dorothy and two adolescent cousins Joan 16 and John 17 who are staying the night in Dorothy's flat. They begin chatting about what they like to do and before long agree to a threesome in bed. They prepare for the experience by exploring each other's bodies. Dorothy performs cunnilingus on Joan and afterwards John enters Dorothy. Much pleasure is had by all. The next morning John confesses that he learnt some of his sexual expertise from a French governess who performed fellatio on him before being sacked by his parents for her unseemly conduct. Taking a cue from this Joan does the same to John. After breakfast Joan's mother arrives to collect the children and they leave Dorothy hoping that she will let them return sometime to play their 'lovely game 'again. This is a conventional Soho Script with explicit language but no real shocks. The item. Nine foolscap leaves paginated to page 9 and bound in a Giant Manilla folder from John Dickinson. The two curious devices of button form that should bind leaves to the folder are missing. Otherwise the leaves and folder are in fair condition with the upper part of folder spine torn and some leaves dog-eared. Typewritten on title page is TAKING CARE OF THE CHILDREN. Rather used condition but text clean and complete. unknown
