ref. 60168G. Shaw Peel Square Printing Works. Barnsley. No date c.1900. Fscap.8vo. . pp. 26 ii; 12. Original printed wrappers with repairs to corners of some leaves and to the spine resewn some foxing but in nice condition overall. The 12-page section is bound into the centre and appears to be an add-on to the original. The figure of '120' in the title repeated on the front cover has been crossed out and '155' inserted. Having counted the recipes in both sections I can see only 107 formulae. No matter they cover a lot of ground from waterproofing umbrellas to paint for steam pipes polish for marble and varnish for baskets. The recipes for 'Removing Stains upon Hands' should not be tried at home : '. take a very small quantity of Oil of Vitriol sulphuric acid and pour it into some cold water and wash your hands in it without soap. The Dye and possibly your fingers will then come off.' Unsurprisingly COPAC does not record a copy of this little pamphlet - but it does have a record of another work printed by Shaw Barnsley - A.C. SEWARD. Syllabus of a course of twelve lectures on the earth's history : how it is written. Cambridge University Society Lectures. No date. G. Shaw, Peel Square Printing Works. Barnsley. No date [c.1900?]. Fscap.8vo. unknown
