NO Date given - but another copy online gives it as c. 1930 - and the last print in the book is dated 1930 - so it is definitely around that date. In the original publisher's grey coloured card covers with a Ribbon binding with the lettering/titling in dark blue and with the Scots Guards insignia decorating the front cover. A little light shelfwear and a couple of biro marks on the covers but overall VG. see photos This is Volume 1 of a proposed series of Atholl Prints entitled "Types of the British Army". "The Portfolio contains 8 large 'tissue' guarded coloured plates illustrating the uniforms worn at the present day c. 1930 on various occasions by the Officers NCOs and Guardsmen. An interesting summary of the History of the Regiment since its inception in the reign of Charles 1 is also included. A loose sheet describing this book is also loosely inserted. The production is unique in that it is the first Art Production completely produced from quarter plate negatives taken from life in natural colours with a specially designed camera in which the colours are photographed simultaneously on different plates by means of colour separation filters. The plates have been placed in the cover in such a manner that any may be easily detached - for framing or similar." This is also therefore research material etc for those interested in the history of photography and printing and related. No pagination. Overall an Excellent Very Clean Tight and Bright Near FINE copy. Scarce. ; Types of the British Army; Folio 13" - 23" tall . Stevenson, Clark & Co. paperback
1850Best.-Nr. 14209s.l. s.n. 18- 1850. Duodecimo ff. 4 103 14 plus other recipes loosely inserted. Morocco-grain brown calf floral ornaments blind stamped to boards fore-edges marbled blue blue marbled endpapers. An eclectic collection of manuscript recipes produced across the nineteenth-century. Written in multiple hands likely beginning in the mid-nineteenth century and ending in the 1920s this is a fascinating palimpsest of domestic life across the Victorian period. Contains cookery baking cosmetic and medicinal recipes. One of the authors frequently cites the origin of each recipe giving an insight into the bookish and social resources required to assemble such a collection in one volume. Loss to spine tips and scuffs to spine boards and corners a little rubbed. Occasional foxing to contents and some pages attached to one another in erratic ways for example with a nail or glue. Some recipes in the final gathering are upside-down- it was common to flip hand written recipe books and begin a new 'upside down' section from the rear often with tonics and medicinal cures as is the case in this book. An attractive book in very good condition considering its practical use. s.l. s.n. 18- hardcover
