1836ref. 28253G. A. Williams J. Lee etc Cheltenham 1836. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/not applicable. A rare pamphlet that puts the case for a line as per the title above which the promoters thought would be an improvement on or possibly complement the Great Western route via Didcot. As history has proved the scheme did not materialise. The notion of an east-west route outlined here as Norwich to Gloucester via Cambridge and Tring would certainly appeal even today. However the mention of the term 'inclined plane' in the projected route may partly explain why the venture was a non-starter. Ottley 6019 another pamphlet of 1836 and titled 'A Voice from Cheltenham.' and signed 'A Shareholder in the Tring Co.' suggests further complications - 'We have been grossly misled and deluded'. Very good copy paper slightly cockled minor browning of the first and last leaves. Recent good quality binding of quarter calf gilt lettered on the spine with marbled paper boards. No inscriptions. 23 pages. Ottley First Supplement 8565. OCLC does not record any copies although Library Hub shows 2 UK locations viz Oxford and Leicester Universities. Approx. size 8.5" by 5.5". Quantity Available: 1. Category: Railways; Pictures of this item not already displayed here available upon request. Inventory No: 28253. . G. A. Williams, J. Lee, etc hardcover

1870ref. 13079Paris: Unique. ca 1870. Original frame / Modern frame. Very good. Framed oblong scene of women harlequins and dancers rendered in subtle color lithography. Each of the figures is applied to the background in relief thereby producing a three dimensional effect for the viewer. Accompanying this is another framed "family scene" of nobility. Man woman and children composed of color lithographic figures with applied metallic highlights; gold braided tassle applied to the cushion at one corner as an embellishment. A anonymous unique composition of what appears to be a company of dancers or actors. Each is posed in a coquettish manner interacting as a group and looking at the viewer. Each is gayly attired in elaborate harlequin costumes in the manner of tinsel prints see Speaight Juvenile Drama . Chap. 11 with complicated silk ruffles and ties. The figures were produced through color lithography and mounted in relief to give the impression of depth to the scene. The item measures appx. 30 1/4 x 25 3/4 inches without the frame. There is no information available as to its origin. But given the quality of the lithography and subject matter a guess would be French. This is offered with a "noble family scene" of the same collage mode of representation. This is in a modern frame and measures appx. 12.5 x 16 inches without the frame. The relief effect is accomplished in the same manner. See Natl. Galleries of Scotland Collage #18 & #40. Unique. unknown books
1990ref. SBBIH-3OASS4WPML4KTime Life UK 1990. hardcover. Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing fanning inscriptions margin notes yellowing staining on edge or cover or pages bumps scuffs etc etc sometimes multiple of these. It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order at least not without checking with us first although we don't always have time to check. We aim to dispatch prompty the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only. Time Life UK hardcover
