Hölderlin

2020 · ref. 3856 — Second printing. Edited by Jochen Schmidt in collaboration with Katharina Grätz. Softcover volume measuring approximately 4.25" x 7" is like new. 1514 pages. "Alongside his poetry the novel "Hyperion" and the drama "The Death of Empedocles" are Hölderlin's best-known works. Consequently all versions of both texts are presented here newly edited from the original manuscripts. For the first time the volume offers not only general overviews but also comprehensive detailed commentaries that explain Hölderlin's writing and establish connections to the literature and philosophy of his time. Hyperion Empedocles—all essays and translations presented in a new textually critical form with individual commentaries. This edition opens up a whole series of texts previously considered hermetic."
