Company K of the 150th Ohio Volunteer Infantry was organized out of a group of volunteers almost entirely from Oberlin College who answered the Ohio Governor's call for 35000 troops to serve for 100 days during the summer of 1864 to defend existing Union railway lines and supply houses in the Mid-Atlantic including Washington. The regiment fought in a number of small skirmishes as well as the Battle of Fort Stevens where President Lincoln was quite nearly killed by Confederate sharpshooters.
