1886réf. 10613Salt Lake City: Deseret News Company 1886. First Edition. 19pp. Octavo 21 cm About very good. Lacks wrappers. An open letter by the First Presidency that was sent out to be read at a General Conferences in Provo instead of in person at the Tabernacle due to the Polygamy raids than be conducted by federal marshals throughout the Territory to locate and arrest known bigamists. In this short work Taylor writes of the challenges the Church was facing due to anti-polygamy legislation and the importance of continuing the practice of plural marriage. "The cry of polygamy has made a good battle cry: this has called the fanatical element into line; but underneath and above this question of polygamy and completely enveloping it has been the design to destroy our rights as citizens to take away from us our liberties under the Constitution and the laws and to obtain the political control of our country so that being as voiceless in the affairs of government as the Indians or Chinese we could be taxed and plundered with impunity and be lorded over by a set of political harpies who would revel and fatten at our expense." John Taylor 1808 - 1887 was third president of the LDS Church from 1880 to 1887. He is the first and so far only president of the LDS Church to have been born outside the United States. He was with Joseph Smith when he was murdered at the Carthage Jail and led the Church during the Polygamy raid period. Flake/Draper 1662. [Deseret News Company unknown books

While Hudson was first settled around 1872 the community's namesake Isaac Washington Hudson Sr.'s family did not permanently move there until 1878. By 1884 the new town of Hudson had been platted and the community's first post office and school were built. In its infancy the community grew fast and residents relied upon the lands and Gulf waters for their livelihood. With the fast-growing community came the establishment of numerous sponging and fishing businesses in addition to farms. The banks of the big Hudson Spring were becoming the center of commerce and there the resident businessmen constructed their docks fish houses mercantile stores hotels and more. Today with a development on every corner and vacant lands becoming extinct it is extremely hard to imagine those times. Little of this past remains and in its place the bulldozers are paving Hudson with progress. Arcadia Publishing paperback books

Author and UFO researcher William Moore part of an informal intelligence/UFOlogist group called The Aviary later claimed that he had been recruited to feed Bennewitz false information in order to destabilize him. Bennewitz's descent into madness was profiled in the 2005 book Project Beta and the 2013 documentary Mirage Men which suggested that the government created UFO hoaxes as a smokescreen for classified activity. Very Good with darkened spine lettering worn tips diagonal crease to ffep lacking dust jacket. Quite rare signed. The author was an American physiologist who riginated the concept of homeostasis. This particular work introduced the world to the "fight or flight response." According to an article on him in BrainImmune an online neuroendocrine immunology review "He asserted that not only physical emergencies such as blood loss from trauma but also psychological emergencies such as antagonistic encounters between members of the same species evoke release of adrenaline into the bloodstream. To Cannon the body"s responses to 'fight' are the same as those to 'flight.' Adrenaline exerts several important effects in different body organs all of which from Cannon"s point of view maintain homeostasis in fight-or-flight situations. In the skeletal muscle of the limbs adrenaline relaxes blood vessels increasing local blood flow." Garrison Morton 1200. D. Appleton and Company unknown books
