The letter was sent to the wife of Group Captain Gordon Dunlop at the Canadian Legation in Stockholm in 1953. His signature is on the front free endpaper of the book dated 1953. In the letter there are reminiscences of Arthur Lay's own time in Stockholm where he mentions seeing Josephine Baker at the Kina Theatre in 1932 and goes on to describe his enthusiasm for Lapland China Japan and Korea.
