Softcover. nice tight clean copy modest age-toning to inside covers slight bump at head of spine soft diagonal crease at bottom right corner of front cover date written on top edge. Mass Market PB cartoon drawings "Here he is Don Martin MAD's wildest wonder in his first SOLO appearance." Unlike the primary series of MAD paperbacks which reprinted features from the magazine Don Martin's volumes of which there were eventually a total of 13 featured "completely new completely original completely nuts!" material in this case featuring "two incredibly kooky characters Fester Bestertester and Karbunkle." There are eight stories in this book illustrated by Martin and told in nearly wordless style. As MAD editor Al Feldstein puts it in his Foreword which also includes some hilarious faux-biographical details about Martin: "The cartoon stories in this collection are all original. They have never appeared in print before. That's because nobody else had the nerve to publish them. Not even the gang at MAD." NOTE that any MAD paperback currently on offer from ReadInk comes from my personal stash which contains primarily copies that I bought new at the time of their original publication and that have been carefully stored ever since. Although I was a faithful reader of MAD magazine itself I rarely even opened the paperbacks hence most are in Near Fine or even Fine condition. This particular printing the 8th although it bears only the 1962 copyright date of the first printing probably dates from circa 1968; however it retains all the external points of the first printing including the same cover text and illustrations the D2107 Signet catalogue number and the 50-cent cover price. . c.1962.
