All three artists have their own distinctive ideas on working with glass so their pieces are some of the most exciting studio glass being produced anywhere in the world. Cristiano Bianchin began his career as an artist with the vivid colours once so typical of Murano glass. By now however he is working in black-and-white and especially in shades of brown. He is adept at working in touches of colour and deploying transparency to emphasise earthy tones. Laura de Santillana a granddaughter of Paolo Venini founder of the celebrated Venini Venetian art glass works is one of the few women glass designers in Murano. Her works are notable for striking sculptural forms and colours reminiscent of 1950s Colour Field painting. Born in Japan Yoichi Ohara has been living and working in Murano for more than thirty years. The synthesis he has achieved of traditional Japanese aesthetics and Murano art glass makes him one of the most important contemporary creators of art glass worldwide. . 2009. 3897903032 . His work has been exhibited at documenta in Kassel Germany as well as in New York Paris London Berlin and Cologne among other cities. A co-publication between Arsenal Pulp Press and three Canadian art galleries this is the first book to document the work of this important artist from an unusual perspective—a collection of some 1200 full-color Polaroid images twelve per page taken by Lukacs over the past twenty years as core referents for his paintings assembled and collaged by Vancouver artist and curator Michael Morris. Lukacs regularly employs a Polaroid camera as part of his artistic process using his friends and acquaintances as models; taking advantage of the Polaroid’s unique characteristics his painterly sensibility is evident in the rich hues and romantic sensuality of these photographs which are strikingly similar to the paintings that resulted from them. The book is physically enormous allowing the Polaroid grids to be printed at their full size. It also features essays by award-winning author Michael Turner Hard Core Logo; curator Scott Watson; gay writer Stan Persky; and Vince Aletti the American curator and photography critic for The New Yorker. Stunning and bold Polaroids: Attila Richard Lukacs and Michael Morris is a remarkable visual and written document on one of the most compelling visual artists working today. . 2010. 1551522950 . In-4°, 127cc, (3) cc, grandi capilettera figurati incisi su legno. Legatura in piena pergamena coeva con titolo manoscritto al dorso e tagli in azzurro. Edizione originale molto rara. Copia Fletcher. Modenese, 1941. In-4 °, 127cc, (3) cc, large figured woodcut letterheads . Full parchment coeval binding with handwritten title on the spine and cuts in blue. Very rare original edition. Fletcher copy. This is the first prose translation of the first part of Niccolò da Casola's epic chivalric poem, drawn up from a famous manuscript datable to the first decades of the second half of the fourteenth century. Barbieri's Attila is at the same time a great philological work of study of the Provencal language, a historical fresco of contemporary Italy reinterpreted through the legend of the barbarian invasions, a picture of the courtly life of the time and, above all, the celebration of the Este family, to which the author personally owed much for having been accepted at the court of Ferrara, and who, thanks to an enlightened patronage, had won the recognition of writers and men of art. Giovanni Maria Barbieri, a scholar and philologist from Modena (1519-1574), learned Provençal language during his stay at the court of Francesco I d’Este, and promoted his studies; back in Modena he became a friend of Castelvetro and joined the court of Alfonso II d’Este who entrusted him with the task of translating this ancient Provençal poem, whose manuscript was kept in the Estense Library. The small avant-garde Marxist group had tiny branches around the world but was centered in Paris and held its place at the forefront of politics philosophy and art from the Beat era to the tail end of the 1960s. Situationists were pivotal in the student revolts in Paris in May 1968. Their critique of society in all of its facets was so dense and nuanced it anticipated the revolutionaries of the next five decades and set the bar high for them perhaps impossibly so. But as one of the slogans spray-painted around Paris in May 1968 went "Be realistic. Demand the impossible. Internationale Situationniste unknown
