He was the founder and president of the Society for Jewish Jurisprudence, founder and president of the Friends of Hebrew University, president of the Israel-Ibero American Institute, and former president of the Bnai Brith Lodge in Israel. Born and educated in Turkey, Justice Frumkin was also an authority on Ottoman law (JTA, 1960) .
