On the front pastedown is a previous owner's bookplate and reads: 'Michael and Irene Franklin 9 Lower Mall W.6.'. It is dated September 1927. Twenty years later in January 1947 the author wrote another inscription including a handwritten unpublished poem. It is indeed a very special copy of this book. This copy also includes the publisher's advert on an unattached piece of parchment. 'The Branch of Hawthorn Tree' is a collection of poetry by Monk Gibbon mostly consisting of lyrical prose poems. The book includes many coloured illustrations by French painter Picart Le Doux. The book was printed from Deberny Type on Arches paper. With the original glassine dustwrapper.
