This notable work was first published in five parts then expanded in 1837 in ten volumes. This series was the author's best known work and was approved by the King to be dedicated in his honour. The work is also notable for its inclusion of John Tallis' sought after maps which were known for their beautiful detail and decorative nature. Undated dated by copies held institutionally. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally slight fading to the spine with marks to the boards and minimal wear to the extremities with small closed tears to the head and tail of the spine. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally generally smart. Bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities resulting in loss to the head and tail of the spines heavier to Division IX. Cloth is a little discoloured with some marks. Small chip to the front board of Division IX and a damp stain to the rear board. Front hinge of Division VI is strained rear hinge is tender. Small tidemark to the front paste down and endpaper of Division VI larger tidemark to the rear paste down. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots.
