Diamonds because of their endless brightly shine had been the source of attraction for centuries, and thus, become the favorite jewelery adornment of Ottoman sultans and their combines. Thanks to the excellent craftmanship of Mr. Abdurrahman and Evren Sapçi, the nearly ending classical style processed hand-made rose-cut diamonds, are still a luxurious way of adornment of contemporary women.".
2019New English Original bdg. HC. Folio. (34 x 24 cm). Edition in English. 472 p., color ills. Sultan's Jewelers in the Ottoman Palace, 1853-1871. The book "Sultan's Jewelers in the Ottoman Palace" primarily sheds light on the 19th century administrative and cultural history of the Ottoman Empire during a period of significant transition. The information obtained from the records of the "Jewelers Chamber" situated in the core of the Imperial Mint, over a period of 17 years ( A.H. 1270-1287 / A.D. 1853-1871) while the institution was under the management of the Ottoman Armenian family Duz and the reigns of Sultans Abdulmejid and Abdulaziz presents us with an invaluable treasure of information, the like of which has not been seen before. The records in the registers of the Imperial Mint Jewelers Chamber basically relate to the craft performed in the shop, but at the same time reveal very important historical facts. The information that gats accentuated are the specifics regarding the types, nature and cost of the orders and medals awarded to the military and civilian dignitaries honored by the Sultan. Also from the type and cost of the gifts shipped to Kaaba, to custom made jewelry for the Imperial Harem, from repairs made to worn out objects, to the type of jewelry the crown princes preferred to wear, the extravagance of certain crown princes mothers, to the type and value of items crafted for people with or without rank and certain other data which are now completely out of our reach are found in these records. In these records, taking the circumstances of the period as a basis, we also learn a lot about the jewelers terminology used in mid 19th century, names and costs of medals and orders employed in the Empire, details of precious gifts delivered to kings, queens and dignitaries of great nations giving direction to the era s politics and economy, information on goods imported from abroad or manufactured at the Imperial Mint only to be used at dinner parties and now lost in history, as well as the names of masters outside the Imperial Mint, names of articles and furnishings used at dinner parties given at Neshad-abad and Feriye Palaces, and other diverse data reflecting the spirit of the Tanzimat era, somewhat related to the activities of the Jewelers Chambers but which have not found their way into official documents.

Sadberk Hanim Müzesi Koleksiyonundan mineli ve murassa eserler. [Exhibition catalogue]. The "Jewel" exhibition, which has been organised this year on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Sadberk Hanim Museum, presents enamelled and jewelled objects in the Turkish-Islamic Section of the museum. The exhibits reflect Ottoman tastes in objects set with diamonds, emeralds, rubies and other precious stones, and exquisitely crafted enamelled artefacts. They include objects for a wide variety of uses, such as belt buckles, writing boxes, pen cases, spoons, coffee cup holders, mastic jars, sherbet cups, pocket watches, fans, fly whisks, tobacco pipes, snuff boxes, brooches, Ottoman decorations and slippers. Throughout history glittering gold and silver objects studded with precious gems have been one of the most eye-catching manifestations of imperial splendour. Apart from the surviving jewelled objects themselves, archive documents, the writings of Ottoman authors and foreign travellers, contemporary paintings and miniatures demonstrate the extensive use of precious metals and gems to adorn items ranging from book bindings to costume in Ottoman culture. As in many Ottoman period arts and crafts, jewelled objects reveal a distinction between the work of court artists and ordinary craftsmen. Since the jewelled and enamelled objects in the Sadberk Hanim Museum collection tend to follow court tastes, most of them were evidently used and worn by people in or close to court circles. They display a wide diversity in terms of function, and although the majority date from the late Ottoman period, overall they cover a broad time span from the 17th century to the 20th century, and include some produced in Europe for the Ottoman market as well as those produced in the Ottoman Empire over this period. First Edition. TURKISH AND ISLAMIC ART Ottoman art Jewelery Gold Silver Diamond Collection Object Antique.

Sadberk Hanim Museum opened on 14 October 1980 as Turkey's first private museum and this year celebrates its thirty-third anniversary. The collection of Turkish and Islamic artefacts gathered by Sadberk Koç formed the original nucleus of the museum collection, which has since been greatly expanded by donations and purchases. With the purchase of the Hüseyin Kocabas collection in 1983 the museum branched out into the field of antiquities. The Archaeological Section of Sadberk Hanim Museum is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The collection consisting of nearly 7000 objects ranges from the Late Neolithic Age to the Byzantine Period, making it possible to trace the course of successive Anatolian civilizations through their material culture. Archaeological Section of the museum has steadily grown over the years, with the purchase of rare items from overseas auctions and the acquisition of registered collections. Sadberk Hanim Museum Archaeological Section will have been open for 25 years in 2013 and it was decided to celebrate this anniversary with an exhibition entitled Traces of Ancient Ages, presenting 150 works that throw light on the periods to which they belong.

2018New English Paperback. Demy 8vo. (21 x 14 cm). In English. 256 p. The dynamic process of identification of action and interpretation consists in interdependence between the social world and its mental model with its intellectual and emotional context. People do not relate to nature directly but do so through symbolic interpretations where symbols represent and stand for nature or any object of perception. Thus, the main issue seems to be the relation between symbols and that which is symbolized, what symbols stand for and how this relation is established. Whatever other function sign and symbol may fulfill, it is clear that they make it possible for human individuals to send and receive messages, and therefore to establish relations between each other and consequently make all kinds of human groupings and cultural constructions possible. Establishing identities of objects through acts of identification composes one dimension of this process of creating the world of culture. The question of the origin of Islamic art and the nature of the forces and principles which brought this art into being must be related to the worldview of Islam itself, to the Islamic revelation, one of whose radiations is directly the sacred art of Islam and indirectly the whole of Islamic art through jewellery. This work offers a comprehensive yet complex study on the matter.

Gem and craft in pursuit of the artisans of Grand Bazaar.= Cevher ve zanaat: Kapaliçarsi ustalarinin izinde. [Exhibition catalogue]. "This book is the product of the efforts to bring into view masters as the transmitters of a living tradition of unique and creative distinction and the desire to uphold this tradition. The exhibition was designed to offer a modern perspective on jewelry design by unveiling the mystery of the workshops of the last generation of masters that continue to produce using traditional techniques and contribute infinitely to the character and essence of Kapalicarsi (Grand Bazaar) Jewelry-Production. The conceptual backbone of the exhibition, on the other hand, is based on the results of the academic research project "The Relationship between Craftsmanship, Design, and Innovation in the Context of Intangible Cultural Heritage as the Source of Creative Economy: The 'Living Human Treasures' of Grand Bazaar" supported by TÜBITAK.
