1826ref. 006950London: Longman Rees Orme Brown and Green 1826. Peter Hawker 1786-1853 was held to be "a great shot' - perhaps the best of his era. Here is his sage advice on what and how one is to discharge their firearms. First published in 1814 a popular treatise in its day now a scarce book. Bound in what appears to be split cowhide indicating an interesting rebind. Titling in gilt within a black compartment on the spine. Frontis engraving of bird-hunting in a canoe; xxiv 456 pages. Textblockis very bright and clear with some occasional spotting; more so at the endpapers and title page. Rubbed at the margins. The front hinge is weak and has been reinforced with a linen tape. Quercus suggests that this book is a worthy candidate for a nice rebind. Fifth Edition. Full-Leather. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown, and Green Hardcover
