Contemporary prefatory material in the first tome records that Francesco had died before publication of the work was completed and that his manuscripts were subsequently entrusted for preparation and publication. Tomes IVI retain Francesco's authorship while Tomes VIIVIII are explicitly issued under Claudio dalla Pieve apparently representing the continuation or completion of Francesco's theological programme.A particularly remarkable feature is the extensive programme of engraved allegorical plates and diagrammatic theological tables. These were not merely decorative additions: Francesco's own prefatory material specifically describes graphic tables placed at the beginnings of the individual treatises as an intentional means of elucidating the structure of the work. They form a sophisticated eighteenth-century system of visual theology mapping such subjects as the virtues sin natural and ecclesiastical law the Commandments justice property restitution the Sacraments and ecclesiastical discipline.Among the more unusual subjects treated graphically are the acquisition and division of property under civil canon and private law; clerical ownership and benefices; ecclesiastical jurisdiction; confession and penance; and solicitation to sexual misconduct in connection with confession. The resulting combination of theology canon law moral casuistry and visual information design gives the work interest considerably beyond the conventional market for eighteenth-century theological texts.PROVENANCEContemporary manuscript ex-libris of the Convent of San Giovanni Battista Saluzzo: Ex Libris Conventus S. CCPB000223847-0 Luis Basols y Bastons en religión fray Luis de Olod o de Olot Olot 1720-8 de mayo de 1794 fue un fraile capuchino y calígrafo español.

It is the story of what happened to one-half of the British people - the half that now, generally speaking, votes Labour - in the long, dark tunnel between the rather confused half-light into which it is emerging today and the green land far away inhabited by our eighteenth- and seventeenth-century ancestors." - Arthur Bryant (in 1947).
