A picture of this book is available upon request by email. The plates include one of insects, all the others of flowers including camellia, dianthus, hyacinth, peargonium, phlox, tulip, pyrethrum, etc, all beautifully painted and presented. There are many other fine illustrations including of Victorian flower holders. Other experts contributed to the book including Arthur Henfrey, J. O. Westwood, George Glenny, etc.

A picture of this book is An attractive and detailed work by a popular garden writer. The printed title page gives the date as 1838, the date of the first edition, while the hand colored title page gives the date as 1839, stating new edition carefully revised. A picture of this boo The attractive colored plates are from paintings by Marie Low and Gertrude Hamilton, and the other illustrations are from drawings by F. W. Burbidge, George Shayler and May Iggulden. An impressive work with a large section on orchids and including all aspects of flower growing and all types of flowers, flowering shrubs and trees, sub-tropical growing, roses, borders, seasons, propagation, azaleas, greenhouse growing, marketing, etc. Later printings had no date on preface and some were bound in 6 volumes instead of three but with same content.
