This is one of the earlist attempts during the 'second wave' of the Women's Movement to assemble a collection of the seminal works that had come before. From Wikipedia: Women's rights are the rights and entitlements claimed for women and girls worldwide. They formed the basis for the women's rights movement in the 19th century and the feminist movements during the 20th and 21st centuries. In some countries these rights are institutionalized or supported by law local custom and behavior whereas in others they are ignored and suppressed. They differ from broader notions of human rights through claims of an inherent historical and traditional bias against the exercise of rights by women and girls in favor of men and boys. Issues commonly associated with notions of women's rights include the right to bodily integrity and autonomy to be free from sexual violence to vote to hold public office to enter into legal contracts to have equal rights in family law to work to fair wages or equal pay to have reproductive rights to own property and to education. Bibliography as a discipline is traditionally the academic study of books as physical cultural objects; in this sense it is also known as bibliology. English author and bibliographer John Carter describes bibliography as a word having two senses: one a list of books for further study or of works consulted by an author or enumerative bibliography; the other one applicable for collectors is "the study of books as physical objects" and "the systematic description of books as objects" or descriptive bibliography. Bibliography is a specialized aspect of library science or library and information science LIS and documentation science. It was established by a Belgian named Paul Otlet 1868-1944 who was the founder of the field of documentation as a branch of the information sciences who wrote about "the science of bibliography." The quantitative study of bibliographies is known as bibliometrics which is today an influential subfield in LIS and is used for major collection decisions. The Scarecrow Press, Inc hardcover

1893283 p. 8vo. 23 cm. Original blue cloth biding, lettered in gold, with a decorative Greek key border in black. Slightly worn at head and tail. The author was a newspaperman and the editor of the Salt L ake City Tribune. His style is a curious blend of the journalistic with the romantic. The scenes move easily between the Comstock Lode, England, and the mines of South Africa. The Comstock Lode was the group of celebrated silver and gold mines near Virginia City, Nevada. Between 1859-1870 it yielded well over 300 million tons of valuable ore. The profits made from the Lode accounted for much of the economic growth of the West in the late 19th century. Wright, American Fiction III (1876-1900), 2206. "The lust of gold, unfeeling and remorseless! The last corruption of degenerate man" -- Samuel Johnson (1749). **PRICE JUST REDUCED! W148
