This book deals in three parts with the complete Gillion Crowet Collection, which with its approximately three hundred pieces forms a reference collection in the field of the parures of the Moroccan Berber women. The collection, which focuses on the production of silver from the countryside, paints a broad panorama of the creative centers, drawing on pieces of exceptional quality not found in any other public collection today. The first part explores the historical continuity of Berber culture from the Neolithic on and examines the - still topical - issue of a Saharan culture forced to settle elsewhere by desertification. In response to this historical approach, the second part highlights the close relationship that makes the parures the "screen image" of the Berber woman. The third part explores the places where the parures were produced. The jewels are reduced to a topography of creation that runs from North to South and from East to West, with a fundamental anchorage in the southeast of Morocco.

Stories of yesteryear of running bootleg whiskey during the days of Prohibition and of the locals that engaged in the activity stories of the pool halls and drinking establishments of the winter and springtime visitors of Ty Cobb and Shoeless Joe Jackson of the town made famous in the modern day by the book and movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Ten stories that will wet your appetite for more. Murray Silver is known for a number of books perhaps the most famous being GREAT BALLS OF FIRE The Uncensored Story of Jerry Lee Lewis the book that the movie was derived from. He also wrote WHEN ELVIS MEETS THE DALI LAMA and number of others. A Savannah native Silver still resides in the city and in recent years has been active in politics even running for mayor. He wrote with Elvis Presley's physician the book that would cause a scandal WHO KILLED ELVIS PRESLEY and for some time was personal assistant to the Dalai Lama setting aside at the Dalai Lama's request the business of his personal life to write about China's oppression of Tibet and to sponsor tours of the Tibetan Buddhist monks who performed sacred chants and dances at museums and universities. Signed and dated on the title page. Murray M. Silver Jr. is an American rock music writer and photographer. Silver was born in Savannah Georgia in 1953. At age 16 he and his father a lawyer promoted rock concerts in Atlanta bringing many future groups to the city for the first time including Fleetwood Mac the Grateful Dead the Allman Brothers Sonny & Cher and Paul Simon. Silver parlayed his contacts in the music world into a career as a rock tour photographer and journalist covering the greatest acts of the 1970s and 1980s including Pink Floyd Genesis Paul McCartney George Harrison Bob Dylan Elton John and Peter Gabriel. Silver was the very first to photograph and interview the Sex Pistols during their only tour of America in 1977. In 1982 Silver published his first book Great Balls of Fire: The Uncensored Story of Jerry Lee Lewis which was written with Lewis' ex-wife Myra Gale Brown. Silver was introduced to the XIVth Dalai Lama by mutual friend Richard Gere. At the Dalai Lama's request Silver sponsored tours of Tibetan Buddhist monks who perform their sacred chants and dances at colleges and museums throughout the United States. In 1998 Silver was personally responsible for packing and transporting The Mystical Arts of Tibet Exhibit which featured sacred objects of the Dalai Lama. Silver has also published a book entitled Behind The Moss Curtain: And Other Great Savannah Stories.
