1942réf. ABE-1675462391528Dial Press 1942 A 400 page memoir with many drawings three full-page color plates and a number of glossy photos. Generally the book is in good shape but there are a few issues. One of the early pages has a bit of a chip; the spine is faded at top and bottom. The DJ is chipped creased and torn but is now covered with mylar. Most grievous is the missing illustration that had been glued to the bottom of the spine but the large one on the front cover is glorious. The book is far from perfect and yet it reflects the true sensibilities of Dali an artist who was like no other. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Good/Fair. Dial Press hardcover

1935réf. Dali2DALÃ Salvador 1904-198 Original drawings and autograph poem charcoal on paper N.p.n.d c. 1935 1 p. in-8° 16 x 205 cm Some spots Unpublished poem with superb pencil studies representing surrealist shapes faces as well as a masturbation scene Superb pencil drawings some of surrealist shapes others representing faces or a scene of masturbation and fellatio. The Catalan painter has added an exquisite corpse which he calls "descriptive poem" which to our knowledge remained unpublished to this day. Dalí titled the poem "imperceptible outbreak of nutrition" he writes as usual in phonetic French: " ge pique ta nuque ge coupe ton pique ge nuque ta coupe ge vide mon mal J'avale ta male … " 1935 is a turning point in the creation process for the Catalan master. Dalí found the surrealist works too limited the impossibility of going further in the exploration of this world led him to proceed to a work of introspection leading to paranoia. He worked on this aspect of himself and studied the behavior of the mentally ill especially people with paranoid tendencies. It will result from this research a method to open one's mind to the things of the invisible of the unconscious through the use of the paranoid character present in each of us; it is called the Paranoia-Critical Method or M.P.C. In painting this will result in the double or even multiple image to which he will remain attached for most of his life. 1933réf. 22613New York: Julien Levy Gallery 1933. Single sheet. Very Good. A wonderful piece of Surrealist ephemera and one of the great early Julien Levy catalogues. The scarce historic November-December 1933 catalogue/announcement of Salvador Dali's first solo exhibition in America. 26 listed paintings followed by a Dali essay and 2 Dali illustrations. All on a single purple sheet folded into thirds. Light creasing at all 3 panels renders this copy a VG to VG rather than a Near Fine but happily the fragile catalogue remains bright and very presentable. This copy also boasts superb provenance having come directly from the family of artist --and Julien Levy patron-- Joseph Cornell and before that from his house itself famously on Utopia Parkway in Flushing Queens New York.
