Concise yet comprehensive this elegant volume follows Dal''s artistic development from the 1920s to his death in 1989. Accompanied by brilliant reproductions and the artist's own words it offers detailed analyses of his most important paintings based on the theories of two men who deeply influenced his thinking: Sigmund Freud and his protégé Otto Rank. 1950réf. 30143New York:: Doubleday & Co. 1950. First edition. Hardcover. Publishers orange cloth over boards minor shelf wear still about near fine contents clean and crisp. The fontispiece is signed ÒDaliÓ at the bottom in real ink. We are uncertain whether it is an actual Dali signature as it doesnÕt match the common Dali signature on most of his art. It is possible it could be an earlier or later signature but we are uncertain. If it were a forgery you would think the forger would mimic the common signature most people often see. Due to the undertainty we have not adjusted the price. Price alone is for the work itself. Illustrated dust jacket minor chipping at front bottom corner a bit of minor damp stain at top of spine area. Inside flaps slight clipped not the price at corners. Overall presents excellent in new protective mylar. At time of description our copy is in much better condition than the very few others with jackets ripped and torn available on the market. Scarce work of short horror stories on madness. Rarely seen Dali works of macabre. With color frontispiece and six b&w full page plates by Dali. Dust jacket cover as well repeated with frontispiece.
