1971réf. —— ENGLISH DESCRIPTION : AQUATINT N° 1 OF THE SUITE "FÊTES", for a book of poems by Jacques Prévert. Maeght Éditeur, Paris 1971. AQUATINT WITH EMBOSSING PRINTED ON AUVERGNE DE RICHARD DE BAS AND PUBLISHED IN FIFTY COPIES ONLY. This print on Auvergne with double watermark is not signed. From the head edition of the book. (Sheet : 45 x 34,2 cm and composition : 32 x 23,3 cm). —— Note: For each of the seven engravings, Calder first made a precise color drawing. Then he cut the shapes thus drawn out of a metal plate. These shapes were then placed on the open press, in accordance with the original design. The colors, deliberately bright, were applied with a brush, the paper was placed on top, and the whole thing was put through the press. This unique engraving technique gave a subtle relief imprint in the paper of each plate. Bibliography: Bénézit 3-117; Johnson 152; Monod 9290;Prout-II-71-05; Lhermitte 487.
