"El autor" gran jurista y prelado español nació en el seno de una familia hidalga de origen Cordobés en Cuenca el 2 de junio de 1574 y murió en Salamanca el 2 de febrero de 1645. De pensamiento antirregalista este notable intelectual nos ha dejado una importantísima obra tanto de temas religiosos como morales o políticos. Sus más importantes libros son "Defensio Justitiae et justificationis monitorii amissi et promulgati per S.S.N.D. Paulum papam quintum XVII die mensis aprilis anno Domini 1606" llevado a la imprenta en Valencia en 1607 y "Cosiliorum sive responsorum juris" con ediciones en Nápoles 1618 y 1634 Madrid 1653 QUE ES EL QUE OFRECEMOS y Lyón 1671. Estudió Derecho en Sigüenza doctorándose a los diecisiete años y practicó la jurisprudencia en las Academias de entonces mejorando así su preparación. Felipe III dado su prestigio lo mandó a Nápoles en 1613 introduciéndose allí en la camarilla del conde de Lemos. Fue nombrado presidente del Consejo de Santa Clara de Nápoles y miembro del Consejo de Italia entre otros destacados cargos. De vuelta a España acabaría sentando plaza en el Real y Supremo Consejo de Castilla el 7 de enero de 1633 siendo vicario general del obispado de Cuenca.
