Louvrage témoigne de la rencontre entre deux grands noms du tournant du siècle : Anatole France, écrivain académicien, fin analyste de la société et de la pensée de son temps, prix Nobel de littérature en 1921 ; Alphonse Mucha, affichiste de génie dont le travail avec Sarah Bernhardt et ses compositions décoratives ont marqué limaginaire de la Belle Époque.
