Contains a copy of the first printing of 'Very Well I Thank You' published privately in 1939 in an edition of 100 copies in a paiste down envelope on the inside of the front cover. Binding is tight and square. Page interiors are very crisp clean and bright with no markings. Minor dust soiling to the upper exterior page edges very faint. Light to moderate toning to the DJ spine. DJ has been protected by a clear plastic cover. DJ is not price-clipped but the orginal price of $10 is marked out and corrected to $25 in red ink. Overall in excellent condition. Front cover closely resembles that of first trade edition though the dimensions are slightly smaller 19 cm vs. 20 cm height. but the spine is completely devoid of lettering as is the rear panel except for the declaration referenced above distinguishing it from the first softcover printing. Mrs. Bartlett the lover of her brother-in-law was accused of poisoning her husband in order to inherit his estate. How she murdered him remains a mystery however. Although chloroform was found in his stomach no traces were found in his mouth or throat. Unable to determine how she could have killed her husband the jury did not convict Mrs. Bartlett. unknown
