Dust jacket soiled and missing top edge half of rear and spine plus chipped at bottom. Despite the damaged jacket and slipcase the interior is remarkably clean and crisp with uncut pages. Slipcase heavily sunned damp stained and torn at head and heel. Contains many engravings protected by tissues. News article promoting a celebration of Gill's work as a typographer laid in. While Eric Gill was a renowned engraver and typographer many of his efforts are represented in this volume he is best known for his sculptures many of which can be seen on British buildings today. Folio original green cloth gilt lettering on spinein the original dust jacket. Spotting to endpaper first few leaves and very edges but not on any of the prints dust jacket in pretty good condition with slightly darkened spine and some tears to edges.A wonderful way to own original prints by Gill from this period all of which were printed under his supervision. Original 4 pp. prospectus inserted loose with two large engravings by Gill on inside pages. Printed under Eric Gill’s supervision by Hague and Gill for Faber & Faber hardcover

Bentley was about 23 when he produced this first issue in Austin Texas. He went on to become an American English and Film educator a bookshop owner and publisher and of course a poet.
