Il fut formé dans les ateliers de David, Noulhac, puis Lemardeley dont il prend la succession en 1903. Il est actif jusqu'en 1955. Dans sa préface, Davray relate l'histoire de la traduction de ce texte, réalisation conjointe avec Wilde, publiée pour la première fois dans les colonnes du Mercure de France puis en volume en 1898. // Dos très légèrement éclairci sinon superbe exemplaire, parfaitement établi."

Loose gatherings in the original printed wrappers with printed titles to the front covers with the mark of the "Flowered Heart" the Latin motto: Insita cruce cor floret borrowed from the legend of Tristan and Isolde. Colophon and title page with the same device. Edition of 110 copies 10 being reserved for staff. 100 copies on arches vellum signed and numbered by the artist. An original drawing signed by Jean-Gabriel Daragnes and an additional suite of the wood engravings were issued with the first 16 copies. This is copy number 5 with the suite of 69 additional engravings in matching wrappers and the original pencil drawing housed in a brown card chemise with a quarter vellum spine with gilt lettering and the "Flowered Heart" device to the heel. Gilt on chemise dulled or perished slipcase with wear to the edges but the contents in fine condition. Manuel Brucker unknown

Prussian blue cover with gold gilt lettering and design. A fine example of this book with only slight wear showing on the slip case. Comprises 112 pages including over 57 prints sepia tinted by the French Impressionist Daragnès in an exquisite binding by Rene Kieffer featuring a bold and and dynamic navy blue and marbled frontispiece Inside is a translation of the twenty-first psalm by the French Poet Paul Claudel. This unique art book was printed by Kieffer on his presses. Bindery tag and stamp shown. Certainly a labor of love for these three gentlemen with the book being dedicated to the memory of Daragnès mother. A rare and beautifully designed edition. Rene Kieffer unknown
