1923This is a very good hardcover copy in pale-red paper-covered boards, with a black & gilt title label on the front cover and spine. Black cloth spine. This is Band II in the series. Text in German. 600 black & white illustrations. 38 page illustrated text followed by the plate section. One of the most comprehensive surveys of this furniture with individual pieces and room settings. Previous owner name in ink on front pastedown, another in pencil on front free endpaper, otherwise very clean throughout. Spine tips worn. 12" high X 9" wide. This book will be securely wrapped and packed in a sturdy box and shipped with tracking.
2006A clean, unmarked copy. Inscribed by Seattle art critic, "For Jimmy Wright-- best wishes always, Matthew Kangas." Pictorial boards.
2005This is a fine hardcover copy in a fine dust jacket of volume 13 only, (1953) from the 18 volume series. Completely clean, no wear at all. No text. 48 black & white plates. This series exactly reproduces the portfolios produced in Paris between 1937 and 1960 by Charles Moreau. These portfolios are larger and were highly sought after because each plate shows a room setting, not just an individual piece of furniture, making it easier to understand the style. Index of Designers in this volume includes: Andre Arbus, Louis Baillon, Suzanne Guiguichon, Maurice Jallot, Jules Leleu, Pierre Guariche, Pierre Paulin, Jean Royere, Louis Sognot among many others. 9" high X 12" wide. This book will be securely wrapped and packed in a sturdy box and shipped with tracking.
1990This is a very good hardcover copy in a very good dust jacket with light wear. One closed tear to back panel of dust jacket. Completely clean. Text by Alastair Duncan. This catalog was prepared to accompany the first exhibition of the work of A A. Rateau since before World War II. It was the culmination of a decade's worth of research and acquisition of works by Rateau undertaken by the Delorenzo Gallery. 20 works by Rateau are catalogued and illustrated in color. Archives from the Rateau family supplied black & white photographs of Rateau's studio, etc. Chronology. 11" high X 10' wide, 88 pages. This book will be securely wrapped and packed in a sturdy box and shipped with tracking.
1976Two volumes. pp. xxvii, 846. Highly illustrated. Many illustrations and pages printed in color. Top edges foxed. 4to. 31 cm. Original bindings of blue cloth decorated in gold and red. The book design and decorative typography was executed by the author, and it was printed and bound in Japan. This grand publication made available to the general public a collection of 17,000 carefully documented drawings and photographs executed by artists and scholars working under the Works Project Administration. The Index of American Design documents a rich decorative and functional heritage embodied within early American furniture, ceramics, glass, silver, pewter, textiles, household goods, and other objects. There are few better illustrated resources to the wide range of art, industry, trade, decoration and ornament in the U.S. PA 39
