Like most of the genre it is rare with no listing in OCLC. Society for the Chemical Industry in Basel known as Ciba founded in 1884 is a Swiss company that later became Ciba-Geigy and eventually the pharmaceutical giant Novartis. As is typical of the European pharmaceutical giants it began as a dyestuff manufacturer. Ciba evolved out of an earlier company founded by Alexander Clavel which focused on the production of fuchsine a bright magenta dye used for silk-dyeing. It also became incredibly popular for dyeing foods and beverages including red wine. hardcover books
