Very detailed coast line with towns and rivers named showing the Amazon and tributaries. With decorative cartouche. From Prevost's "L'Histoire Generale des Voyages". Bellin 1703 - 1772 one of the most noted French mapmakers of the 18th century was named the hydrographer chief cartographer to the French Navy and later the Official Hydrographer to the French King. Folding 8 1/2 x 15 1/4". Strong impression very clean. A bit ruffled at left margin; short crease at cartouche. unknown

Atlante che, con la sua pubblicazione, coniuga le mappe geografiche con incisioni e informazioni di carattere geografico, araldico, etnografico e storico così rendendo l’opera in sette volumi molto innovativa. Incisione in rame 490x375 mm.Henri Abraham Chatelain (1684 - 1743), pastore ugonotto originario di Parigi visse alternativamente a Parigi, Londra, L'Aia ed Amsterdam. Conosciuto come cartografo olandese per il sua opera cartografica monumentale in sette volumi “Atlas Historique” pubblicata ad Amsterdam con i suoi fratelli. Mappa con vedute del Perù e della costa nord-occidentale del Sud America che si estende da Panama al Cile. Vengono mostrate città, fiumi, laghi e catene montuose. Pictured in three-quarter length she holds a wide straw hat a printed skirt peeking out of the bottom of the photos beneath a traditional shawl wrapped around her shoulders. Her hair is in two braids and she wears elaborate earrings. The pencil notation at the bottom reads "Native of Peru." The photographer Eugene Courret was a French native who moved to Lima in 1860 to work in a photography studio; he opened his own studio with his brother in 1863 and returned to France in the 1890s.
