1647ref. 35404Kiøbenhafn Melchiore Martzan 1647- 1648. 4to. 192x145 cm.

-cf. 1781ref. 186281781-1783. Tissot one of the most celebrated physicians of his time was the eighteenth-century advocate of the importance of temperament in mental disease. He wrote probably one of the first monographs devoted exclusively to the nervous system. Tissot discussed in great detail the problem of the relationship between complete sexual continence and psychopathology. Here he also presented a rudimentary concept of the unconscious or subconscious and he touches an area that brings to mind Freud's theory of suppression.
