19988vo., First Edition, with numerous photographs in the text; original photographic wrappers, a fine copy. With their enormous cargo capacities the contribution of the Empire Food Ships in the relentless struggle to sustain the supply of food to the Home Front was especially important. Many of these vessels were involved in the most famous convoys; three out of five were lost in PEDESTAL alone. Includes a detailed fleet list of vessels built between 1934 and 1948. Scarce.
20074to., First Edition, with 11 coloured plans (8 double-page), 4 full-page diagrams and several illustrations and charts in the text; pictorial boards lettered in white, a fine copy. Naval Staff Histories were produced after WWII in order to provide as full an account of the various actions as was possible at the time. The audience was largely serving officers; some of the volumes were classified, not to restrict their distribution but to allow the writers to be as candid as possible. At this stage of history they represent a uniquely valuable resource. This volume contains Battle Summary 18 (Mediterranean Convoys 1941) and Battle Summary 32 (Malta Convoys 1942), completed by J. Owen and originally issued in 1944 and 1945 respectively. These summaries were combined and extensively revised by Pitcairn-Jones and re-issued in 1957 as Selected Convoys (Mediterranean) 1941-42. By this time Pitcairn-Jones had access to the full records including those captured from German and Italian forces.
19978vo., with 12 plates on 8; original pictorial wrappers, a fine copy. Much-needed, good quality paperback re-issue of the original Harrap edition of 1957. The best early account, with some rare photographs, of the harassment of Germany's North African supply route. During the bitter sixteenth-month struggle half the Axis shipping was sunk, but half the submarines (largely from the legendary 10th Flotilla) failed to return
1944Sm. 8vo., First Edition; cloth, a very good, clean copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the latter lightly chipped at edges with very minor loss at head of backstrip. The author's fourth novel of the war and uncommon in this condition
19798vo., First Edition, with 53 plates on 16 and 4 maps in the text; cloth, gilt back, a very good, clean copy in the dustwrapper. First-hand account marred by irritating printing errors. The four 'C'-class AA cruisers fought hard from the outset (Norway, Dunkirk, Malta, Greece); all were sunk through enemy action by October 1942. They were manned partly by reservists from London Division RNR whose story shines through. VERY SCARCE, ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION. Enser, p.61; Law, 1016

First-hand account marred by irritating printing errors. The four 'C' AA cruisers fought hard from the outset (Norway, Dunkirk, Malta, Greece); all were sunk through enemy action by October 1942. 20108vo., First Edition, with numerous plates and 4 full-page maps in the text; black cloth, gilt back, a fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper. The latest monograph on U-class submarines operating from Malta. One of the most successful Allied submarine commanders of WWII, George Hunt commanded ULTOR during no fewer than fifteen missions, sinking a total of 28 enemy vessels and damaging a further four. He ended his career as post-war SNO West Indies.
