First edition of this exceedingly scarce trade catalogue for Turbine Multiblade Fans designed as exhaust fans for ventilation systems in factories ships mines sawmills lumber mills and several models were specially designed as reversible fans. Miller 1852-1924 was born in Pennsylvania and later set up a logging and steel sheet metal fabrication company in Minnesota before moving the company to Seattle WA at the beginning of the 20th Century. Although originally named John K. Miller Co. it had changed over to Western Blower Company by 1910 and would later operate for decades from 1914 forward at their factory building on 1800 Airport Way. He begins by stating that he is returning a 'paper altered and corrected'. He goes on: 'We have had some warm work at the House: of Commons of late'. Percy had been appointed Superintendent of Ventilation of the Houses of Parliament in 1865. Percy is 'working very hard at my 3d volume a large portion of which is in type'. The third volume of Percy's 'Treatise on Metallurgy' titled 'On lead' would appear in 1870. The tome will be 'copiously illustrated and will contain the result of much work not previously published.' The first work focuses not only on heaters with brick settings but the burners Seamless Warm Air Furnace Water & Air Combination Hopper Combination Heater Farquhar’s Air Filter as well as the Vent & Return System to avoid interior pollution issues in the homes. Along with testimonials the catalogue offers suggested floor plans for siting air ventilation systems and radiators as well. The second catalogue promotes their Hot Arch Furnace which was awarded the Columbian Exposition Medal of Excellence as well as Award for Merit from the Chicago Building Trades & Material Exhibition.
