1937ref. 469N.P.: Leslie Howard 1937. original. Leaf. Fine. Off-white 4" x 6" album page signed clearly in blue fountain pen with the date of 1937 the date of the book Gone With The Wind in which he was to star. Very Scarce signature by esteemed movie actor Leslie Howard 1893-1943 during or near the time that the classic film "Gone With The Wind" was being prepared. The signature bears the surprisingly rare date of the book Gone With The Wind in "1937." Howard seldom signed autographs and his signature near the time of the film Gone With The Wind are rarities. The actor was uncomfortable with his role as Ashley Wilkes and simultaneously was shooting another film during production. Those factors plus a pronounced disinclination to sign autographs means that his signature with a 1937 date is a rarity. Nor was Howard able to retroactively autograph many pieces associated with his most famous role or others because he was killed in 1943 during World War II. Leslie Howard unknown
