Inocêncio informa que este opúsculo não foi posto à venda conforme se declara na capa de brochura posterior. A pequena tiragem foi destinada toda para brindes particulares às pessoas que o autor ou seu cunhado Pereira Rodrigues quizeram obsequiar. Inclui 6 cartas e na época recebeu o aplauso unânime da imprensa periódica e dos críticos. Importante para história de Macau território onde o autor se casou a 4 de Novembro de 1860 quando nele exercia funções oficiais. Gregório José Ribeiro Lisboa 1829 - 1884 Oficial da Armada. Foi Secretário Geral do Governo de Macau governador de S. Tomé de 1873 a 1876 aplicando em 8 de Novembro de 1875 a abolição da escravatura tendo os escravos emancipados nessa altura ficado conhecidos por gregorianos. Posteriormente exerceu as funções de Director da Cordoaria Real em 1877e tratou do tratado para a rectificação dos limites com o sultanato de Zanzibar em 1883. José Maria Pereira Rodrigues Lisboa 1837 - 1885 Antigo aluno do curso superior de letras e deputado às côrtes. De aspirante da alfandega municipal em 1857 foi transferido para a alfandega de Lisboa em 1862 passado às classes superiores sendo depois vogal supplente do Conselho Geral das Alfândegas. Foi por alguns anos director da Revista dos Teatros e colaborador de várias folhas. Cavaleiro e comendador da ordem de Carlos III de Espanha e cavaleiro e S. Tiago de Portugal. 'In his works, as in those of his contemporary Pecqueur (.....) the principal doctrines of collectivism are clearly expressed and reduced to formulas; among these are the so-called 'iron-law' of wages, the theory that wealth is the produce of work 'of others', and that economic evolution leads infallibly to the socialisation of land and of capital. Vidal, however, does not go so far as this in his conclusions. He contents himself with cooperation for producers, profit-sharing for labourers, and a minimum wage fixed by law. His principal works are De la répartition des richesses .... , a critical explanation of the doctrines of the liberal school and those of the principal French socialists, interesting even at the present day ....' (Palgrave, iii, p. 621). - With stamp on title and page 1, some underlining, a faint and small stain in lower blank margin, occasional spotting.
