Aretaios the Cappadocian (first century A.D.) author of a text of medicine on the ?Causes, symptoms and therapy of diseases? also appears as an important anatomy-pathologist, as G. B. Morgagni fully understood being aware of Paolo Giunio Crasso?s Latin translation (1552) and as is adequately proved here in great detail. 300 gr. 154 p.
This collection of some lesser-known but important autopsy findings by famous 17th and 18th century scientists and physicians begins with notes by Willian Harvey; it also contains the entire collection of Marcello Malpighi's observations (from his work ?Anatomica? and the Ms 2085/II), an unpublished work on autopsies by A. Cocchi and, to conclude, observations from Lancisi's ?De subitaneis mortibus? (1706); the beginning of epidemiology of sudden death based on autopsy, from the third version of the work published on Morgagni's request in 1708. 332 gr. 172 p.
The Author has found unknown observations of high-level pathology in the 'Opere Mediche' by Lorenzo Bellini, originally printed in 1683 and 1695, remarkable for the perfect autopsy descriptions and for Bellini's effort to go beyond the pathology of singles organs. Bellini is the first to envisage an inter-organic pathology, based upon blood and nerve flows ('flusso nervino'), that predates the late 1700's breakthroughs made by Xavier Bichat. 337 gr. 170 p.
Among the great Vesalio?s bare pathology notes and the ?rarities? gathered up by Realdo Colombo in De re anatomica?s book XV, this study presents a new character in Pathological Anatomy (something not yet mentioned): Nicol? Massa, the doctor and syphilographer from Venice who, soon after Antonio Benivieni, performs autopsies publicly and searches for the ?sensata veritas? ?with eyes and hands? 321 gr. 164 p.

1880réf. 005566Berlin, Reimer, 1880. IV, 568 S. Dekorativer neuerer Halblederband. "Carl Weigert wrote the first full account of the pathology of myocardial infarction, including the observation that 'destroyed muscle fibres are replaced by fibrous tissue, and the so-called chronic myocarditis is nothing else but such a process'" (A. D. Morgan in Medical History, Vol. 12). "The most significant contribution by a pathologist to our subject must be credited to Carl Weigert (1845-1904), a pupil of Cohnheim until the latter's death, and from 1885 onwards director of pathology at the Senckenberg Foundation in Frankfurt-on-Main" (J. O. Leibowitz: The History of Coronary Heart Disease. London 1970). "First description (p. 106) of cardiac infarction" (Garrison/Morton 2783).
