In-8 (mm. 227x165), p. pergamena antica, titolo oro su tassello al dorso, tagli rossi, 35 cc.nn. (frontesp., dedica a Colbert, prefazione), 448 pp.num., 4 cc.nn. (Indice, Errata), con 49 interessanti figure di ottica e di anatomia, xilografate nel t. (molte a mezza pagina), basate sui disegni dell’Autore. Nel celebre trattato "l’Homme", dedicato in gran parte al cervello e all’organo della vista, il grande filosofo, matematico, medico e patologo René Descartes (1596-1650), fornisce un notevole contributo al progresso delle scienze mediche e, in particolare, alla fisiologia. L’opera, pubblicata postuma, è introdotta da una lunga prefazione del curatore Claude Clerselier, suo amico e ammiratore. Al trattato fa seguito "La formation du foetus", qui in prima edizione, e il volume termina con un approfondito commento su "l’Homme" e sulle figure inventate dall’A. (pp. 171-408) di Louys de La Forge, medico e discepolo di Descartes. "Prima edizione francese" di questa famosa opera (l’Homme era già apparso in latino nel 1662). Cfr. Cioranescu,II,23968 - Brunet,II,611 - Wellcome,II, p. 453 - Krivatsy,3117. Con lievi uniformi arross., ma certamente un buon esemplare.
Due opere entrambe in edizione originale, buona copia. In -4°; pp. 119, (33) + pp. 78, (2 di 10, manca l’indice), ai frontespizi marca tipografica, al recto dell’ultima pagina non num. grande legno con l’emblema di Liceti e il motto Fortasse licebit, e il colophon excudebat Martinus. Leggere sporadiche bruniture. Krivatsy 6965 - 6954. Il De perfecta constituzione tratta delle questioni relative alla generazione, in special modo della formazione e sviluppo del feto: “A differenza di Aristotele, oltre al seme maschile egli ammette anche un seme femminile, che porta al feto l'anima vegetativa. Secondo il L. il seme è costituito da particelle provenienti da tutte le parti del corpo dei genitori, delle quali portano la forma. Questa teoria preformista, ben lontana dalle concezioni epigenetiche aristoteliche, fu utilizzata dal L. per spiegare lo sviluppo embrionale, la trasmissione ereditaria dei caratteri acquisiti, la produzione dei mostri e l'ibridismo interspecifico.” (DBI ad vocem). Il De coextensione tratta tra l’altro dell’anima delle piante e delle passioni dell’anima, un tema che sarà più tardi ripreso da Descartes. L’autore di riferimento è Aristotele.

The night of July 15 was the longest night of Turkish Democracy. In the course of this night, members of Fetullah Gülen Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), which has been infiltrating the Turkish Armed Forces for about four decades, tried to stage a military coup to overthrow the democratically elected government and suspend the constitution of the Turkish Republic. During this night, the Gülen coup attempt was defeated mainly by the peaceful civil disobedience of Turkish citizens from all segments of Turkish society. Turkish people realized that the democratic order of their country was in danger of being abolished by the followers of a false messiah. They realized that this was also an assault on their freedom, independence, and the future of their children. That's why they were ready to sacrifice their lives -a sacrifice that they made. The tally of the casualties was shocking: FETÖ members massacred 240 people, of which 173 were civilians and injured another 2,195 civilians. The aim of this book is to overcome the prejudice and the misunderstanding against Turkey by analysing the events that took place on that night and the developments that followed.

Data used in the chronology part of the book was based on the news stories published by AA on June 15 and 16. Aside from a step-by-step account of events, the book includes striking pictures and Anadolu Agency infographics (updated on August 1) detailing the Turkish nation¿s firm resistance against the July 15 coup attempt, a day that will henceforth be remembered in Turkey as ¿Democracy Day¿.
