Difficulty of obtaining good drinking water at many stations situated on rocky islets off the Swedish coasts, led Nordenskiold, a respected geologist, mineralogist and Arctic explorer, to the discovery of this new and important geological principle. This is a succinct scientific report on Nordenskiold's system of boring fresh water through the granite rocks, including some remarks on his geological observations made during his expeditions to Spitsbergen in 1861 and 1864.

[ENGLISH DESCRIPTION ON DEMAND]
